Brookings’ MetroMonitor ranks the nation’s 100 largestt metro areas based on their economic performancde as judged by six keyindicators – unemployment rates, wages, gross metropolitan product, housing prices and foreclosure The listing is broken down into five groups of 20. The groupa are listed as strongest, middle, second-weakest and weakest. The report covere the entire first quarterof 2009. The Greensborpo metro was listed in the report as one ofthe country’se second-weakest metros, while Charlotte was amongy the 20 middle metros.
