The office of Rep. Dan Branch, said an official vote will take place in the housreon Thursday. Branch had authored a similadr bill in the House and much of that bill was incorporatedc into SenateBill 956, the bill that the House gave its supporg to on Wednesday. That bill, sponsorede by Sen. Royce West, D-Dallas, authorizes $40 millioj in bonding authority. It will need to go back to the Senat e for a final vote because of an amendment adder bythe House. The Senate had previouslyg approvedthe bill. The amendment will allow a study to take placew of the Dallas law schooll model so it can be replicater in the South Texasborder Branch’s office said.
“My principle reasonm for doing this now is it take 20 to 30 years for a law schoo l to come intoits own,” Branchb said. “When we have 12 to 15 milliobn people in the Metroplex that is when this will be agreaft moment."
