Paralyzed Veterans expects to raise $250,000 for vocational center - East Bay Business Times:

Funds raised from the event will suppory Paralyzed Veteransof America’s Vocational Rehabilitation Centerr in the South Texas Medical Centetr in San Antonio. The tournament will be held at the Bell e Haven Country Clubin Alexandria, Va. The cented provides vocational rehabilitation to wounded veterans in ordefr to give them the skills they need to be competitivd in thistough economy. The Vocational Rehabilitatioj Center opened in SanAntonio Jan. 27, 2009. According to the Paralyzedd Veteransof America, the unemployment rate for veterans with severe disabilities is estimatedc to be over 85 percent.
The goal of the new center is to help lower that percentage and encourages employers to tap into what organization officials callan under-utilizesd workforce. The center is based at the Spinal Cord Unit of theAudie L. Murphg VA Hospital in the South TexasMedical Center. The center’zs staff helps provide veterans with resources and skills to find jobs in the SanAntoni area. The Paralyzed Veterans of America, basedr in Washington, D.C,, was founded in 1946 to maximizd the quality of life for members with spinakcord injuries.
